Frequently Asked Questions

A neurological exam, also called a neuro exam, provides the physician with valuable insight into a person's nervous system - comprising of brain, spinal cord, and nerves from these areas.

It is helpful in finding out any neurologic diseases and find out disorders that may negatively impact the quality of life. Some of the symptoms caused by neurological diseases include headaches, blurry vision, fatigue, dizziness or speech problems, varying degrees of paralysis in a leg or arm, muscle weakness, and unusual sensations or confusion.

There are no special requirements for a neurological examination. Your normal movements and reactions will help the doctors to evaluate your condition correctly.

There is no risk associated with this test.

An electroencephalogram Test (EEG Test) is a noninvasive test that evaluates the electrical activity in your brain. The test helps find out potential problems associated with this activity. The EEG test is generally used to help diagnose conditions such as seizures, epilepsy, head injuries, dizziness, headaches, and sleeping problems. In this test, small metal discs called electrodes are attached to your scalp with wires. The eletrodes analyse the electric impulses and then transfer them to a computer to record the results.

Also called a nerve conduction study (NCS), the test evaluates how fast an electric impulse moves through a nerve. The NCV test is used to asess nerve damage and dysfunction. In this test, your nerve is stimulated, usually with electrode patches attached to your skin over the never. The nerve conduction velocity (speed) is determined by calculating the distance between electrodes and the time it takes for electrical impulses to travel between electrodes.

It is method for diagnosing peripheral nervous system disorders, including chronic pain and pain related to diseases like diabetes and CRPS. The QST determines the sensation and pain thresholds for cold and warm temperatures, and the vibration sensation threshold by stimulating the skin and comparing the results to normative values built in the software.

Autonomic testing, also called autonomic response testing, evaluates the functioning of your autonomic nervous system (ANS). Your ANS helps control blood pressure, heart rate, sweating and digestion. The testing can show which part of the ANS has been affected and to what extent. It allows your healthcare provider to develop an effective treatment strategy to deal with it.
